DescriptionScottish singer-songwriter Ben Walker releases his debut EP Where I Wanna Be on January 30th, marking a major milestone in a rapidly rising independent career built on relentless live performance, grassroots fan connection and emotionally direct songwriting. The EP will be debuted live in full at Walker’s biggest headline show to date at The Garage, Glasgow on January 29th, followed by a run of intimate acoustic in-store performances and signing events at independent record stores across Scotland.Written by Ben Walker alongside Ryan Hunter and Jamie Holmes in Glasgow, Where I Wanna Be is a four-track snapshot of personal growth, distance, ambition and reflection. At its core sits the central question that defines the project: is all the growth worth the personal sacrifice?Alongside life on tour, Walker has continued to refine his craft through songwriting retreats and creative development at La Sierra Casa in Spain, founded by Kyle Falconer. There, he has worked alongside and learned from established artists including Jamie Webster, Justin Hawkins, Cammy Barnes and Callum Beattie.After releasing early fan favourite “Punchline” and teasing opening track “Vanilla Ice”, Walker now completes the picture with Where I Wanna Be, blending honest lyricism with warm guitar-driven indie production and an unguarded vocal delivery.Live performance has remained central to Walker’s development. He has sold out headline shows at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut and St Luke’s in Glasgow, supported Cast, Ocean Colour Scene, Jess Glynne and The View, and performed at festivals including TRNSMT, Belladrum, Y Not Festival, Tiree Music Festival and Heartlands.Alongside the EP release, Walker will take Where I Wanna Be directly to fans through acoustic in-store performances and signing sessions at independent record stores, offering stripped-back live versions and the chance to pick up limited edition vinyl.At Strip Joint Records we aim to provide the best service and take pride in all sales.
